Would you like to come to my Birthday party?
Harry Potter saved my life.
Yes. (I read every word on every page in every book while relistening to the audiobook in case I missed a sentence. This was far past the original craze and not because I read them to my children.)
I devoured each book with deep anticipation. Magic, love, scary things, beauty, pain, bullying, trauma and neglect. Then the roller coaster of all of it over and over again. Yes. Even fearing the death eaters as much as my ex-husband and his lawyer.
Each character was me in some form. The stories took me away, they saved me.
I cheered, laughed, cried, and I practiced magic more and more. (Of course, I have wizardly spells and wands, don't you?)
But never once did I imagine I would fit into that magical Harry Potter world.
Until the question, my little 9-year-old human wizard friend asked…What house are you in?
Are you Gryffindor? Are you Hufflepuff? Are you Slytherin? Are you Ravenclaw?
Fitting into the magical Harry Potter world makes my heart stop. I can't imagine the pressure of waiting for the decision of the Sorting Hat.
together at this time feels a little bit like waiting in the Sorting Ceremony line.
We all want to choose, even when the choice has already been made.
I feel more now than ever called to serve and support this community.
You will find more community, more connection, and more ways of moving through this time with grace and ease.
Want more? Okay!
Then we will figure out our own magical house!!
with love,
Ps. Today is my birthday. I will be celebrating with my family, but I can't think of anything better than seeing my community online and sharing the gift of Breathwork with someone like you!!
