What an incredible year! January 5th marks the 1st anniversary of the opening of OhBreathwork Studio.
This beautiful space was full of love and grace for 10 whole weeks.
I’m grateful for the PIVOT of the #OhBreathwork virtual community, and we welcomed hundreds of new brave souls.
Here’s the thing about Breathwork,
it can be H A R D.
Breathwork isn’t for the faint of heart.
It gets gritty. Just like 2020.
When your mind falls into a non-ordinary state of consciousness in Breathwork, there’s no telling where it will go or what it will bring up. Whatever that is, however dark it gets, you have to stay with it.
Sometimes Breathwork brings up some pretty traumatic, painful and unpleasant memories.
It happens to all of us, but we B R E A T H E through it.
We stay with the music, and we always come out on the other side of it reasonably unscathed. And then, we integrate the experience.
You have to be brave to do Breathwork. 😳
You have to trust yourself enough to know that you can do this. That you can sit with what comes up for you.
Committing to something that you might not always enjoy, but you KNOW, what pays off, in the end, takes GRIT.
You get braver with consistency.
But the thing is, most of us live our entire lives trying to hide our pain. Pretending we’re okay and repeatedly sweeping certain emotions (our darkness) under the rug.
Breathwork quickly reveals those things if they’re there.
This is a GOOD thing. You can’t heal what you don’t reveal.
I don’t think the point is getting rid of the darkness.
I think it’s learning to live with the darkness is the ultimate.
Getting rid of it entirely is like spilling red wine on a white shirt and then attempting to hand wash it years later without soap or bleach.
I’m not saying it’s impossible. I’m saying it might be an unreasonable request to make of yourself. 😅
Learning to live with your darkness by looking at it closely and getting curious about it unlocks something.
Breathwork is essentially the key to liberating yourself by holding space.
It opens up a world of possibilities within yourself.
Ones that will help you work WITH your darkness, understand it and embrace it.
Curious?
Let’s be brave together.
Love,
