Oh dear,
Last week was fracturing.
Oh My Heart is about choice and how you want to live.
Being here means you are also passionate about:
Choosing your outcome.
Determining your path.
Deciding to say no.
Choosing to say yes.
Choosing to opt-out.
Selecting to opt-in.
Deciding to change your mind.
Defining your own health choices.
Choosing to try new things.
Choosing your future.
Choosing yourself.
Making an impact.
I live in Canada, and I am privileged in many different ways. I don't need to list why being forced to have a child is bad for the mother, the child, and society.
I will share with all humility I unexpectedly got pregnant and had a child before I was ready to be a mother. Though I do not regret our choice, I was on the edge of violence and terrified for many of those early years. Fortunately, the services and support I was wrapped up in were the only way we survived. People of colour and other marginalized people are less likely to receive help in a crisis. Bans and restrictions will significantly affect maternal health. We can help, use our voice, and use what we have.
I have no more words for this and that - but thank you for being here.
Hugs and Drugs,
ps. I'd love for you to include in the comments any articles, podcasts, or books that elevate hope, challenge you and inspire greater empathy…
pps. I get it if you need to NOT talk about this right now.
