Many years ago, my best friend asked me to babysit her kiddo. My kids were already in college by then. We all assumed being a seasoned parent; I would instinctively know how to put this small child peacefully to bed. Sorting out how to run a toddler through a bedtime routine had nearly evaporated from my memory. Clean up, jammies, snacks and stories, kiss on the forehead, and by magic, this angel child would be asleep in a minute, I dreamed.
As you probably guessed, that didn't happen. The little child with a small body had mammoth strength. Any holding, rocking, or circle-eight bouncing pushed out armfuls of wildness and was forcibly resisted. Putting the many-arm octopus baby into a lying-down position was like bathing a cat. At 100 decibels, the child screamed, "no." I was sweating and panicking, failing to perform super babysitter status.
Running out of steam, the parents were probably only 30 minutes into a 3-hour movie; shocked at how slow time flies, I barely breathed in the silence between the screams.
Somehow I imagined this hysterical child would know the solution better than I did, so I threw out a million options, "do you want this? Do you want that - can I get you a teddy bear..." Then, I asked the jackpot question, "wanna hang out?" to my surprise, the bobblehead baby nodded yes. I swooped up the bundle and headed to the couch. "Let's hang out," I repeated, relieved; finally, chilled, sleep took over.
So, I was wondering. Do you want to hang out?
Why? Because that would be cool.
And my brilliant Coach, Sonia, is pushing me a little. Since I opened my calendar for discovery calls, I got excited about new conversations. I throw a lot into these newsletters, and it would be good to know you. Do you have questions, comments, or stories you want to share one-on-one?
Bring your curiosity. That’s it.
There is still time for the next two weeks (and some more in the new year, I don't know).
Let's hang out.
Ps. Chatting with me is more fun than babysitting a toddler. We will have a delightful 30-minute casual conversation. Last month I mentioned I had two spaces open for Coaching. Both spots filled up!! Yay! If you wanna hang out, know that it is not a sales call, and I will not make you fall asleep. But hey, if you want to talk about Coaching, cool beans, mention it when booking. Also, you can share - if you know someone interested in connecting, please forward this link.
I love that!!! “It’s not a sales call, and I promise I won’t make you fall asleep”😂
You are the BEST person to hang out with Kathleen💖 Babies have such good instincts😁👶🏻
